Around 40 people came to Yr Hen Dŷ Cwrdd last Saturday afternoon between midday and 4pm to enjoy a delicious cream tea at the chapel. The weather kindly opened out in the afternoon, allowing people to sit outside and enjoy the sandwiches, cakes and jam and cream scones in the sunshine. Attendees were warmly welcomed into the chapel to view an exhibition of posters, photographs, books and artefacts relating to the history of the Cause and the building, all under the bright gaze of the chapel’s new interior lighting, courtesy of the Penycymoedd Micro Fund. They also had an opportunity to learn about Addoldai Cymru’s vision for the future of the chapel as a Cultural and Heritage Centre and view the architect’s plans for the development. It was good to see so many of Addoldai Cymru’s longstanding supporters, along with numerous local residents who took the opportunity to view the chapel for the first time. The catering for the tea was undertaken by Janette Leonard of Aberdare and the small amount of excess food was happily received by the residents of the local young people’s hostel.
